If you are reading this article, you probably know that Canon has banned all 3rd party lenses, which use the RF mount.
Additionally, to the ban on lenses, the Viltrox EF-R3 was banned.
Speed boosters from Viltrox are chap and quite good quality. They allow you to almost completely remove the crop of an APSC Sensor, by adding a lens directly on the RF mount.
So if you buy a 50mm lens, it still is ~55mm, instead of 85mm.
Additionally, you will gain an extra stop of light. f/1.8 becomes f/1.2. It has the bokeh of an f/1.2 APSC or f/1.8 of a Full Frame.
Because of this ban, my order on a Swiss web shop got canceled and I got a refund.
I searched through the Internet for shops that still have one in stock, but I had no luck.
First I thought, that I could buy a Metabones or Canon speed booster for 400 – 600$.
Then I found out, that in China, the ban of the EF-R3 is no problem, and they still sell them.
I paid 240$, and two weeks later I got a brand new EF-R3 speed booster from Viltrox.
